How a size converts
- A size stands for a range of feet. An EU 42 fits a foot over 26.3 cm up to 26.7 cm, from the standard formula for EU sizes.
- Find the sizes that cover that foot in the other system: for EU 42, a men’s US 9.5.
- Check the brand. Brands’ own charts often give a size a longer foot than the standard, by up to a size or more, so the converter also shows what each brand prints.
Going through the foot is why the converter works in every direction (US to EU, UK to EU, EU to Japan) and for every pair of systems, not just the ones with a page.
Why one size can convert to two
Systems count in different steps, so one system’s size rarely lines up with another’s. When a size’s foot range runs across more than one size in the other system, the first and last are shown. An EU 41 fits a foot over 25.7 cm up to 26.0 cm, which starts in one US men’s size and ends in the next, so it converts to a US 8.5–9.
Converting a brand’s own size
If you know your size in one brand, choose that brand under “A brand’s own US size”. The converter reads the foot length from the brand’s chart, then gives that foot in every system and on every other brand’s chart.
- You type
- New Balance men’s US 10
- New Balance’s chart
- a foot up to 28.0 cm
- Standard table
- men’s US 10.5–11.5
- adidas’s chart
- US 11, UK 10.5, EU 45 1/3
Every brand’s full chart is in brand size charts. 42 brands’ charts are in the converter.

Questions
How do I convert a shoe size?
Choose the system your size is in, type the size, and the converter gives the same foot in every other system. It goes through the foot length: an EU 42 fits a foot over 26.3 cm up to 26.7 cm, and a US men’s 9.5 covers that foot.
Is there a formula to convert EU to US sizes?
Not a fixed one. Each EU size is 6.7 mm of foot and each US size 8.5 mm, so the gap between the numbers grows: an EU 39 is a men’s US 7–7.5 (32 apart) and an EU 47 a US 13.5 (33.5 apart). A rule like “subtract 32” is off by 1.5 sizes at the top of the range.
Are Australian and Indian sizes the same as UK sizes?
India uses UK sizes. In Australia and New Zealand, men and children use UK sizes, and women use US sizes. The converter lists each separately so you don’t have to know which.
Why do brands print different conversions?
Each brand converts on its own chart. New Balance’s men’s US 10 is for a foot up to 28.0 cm, where adidas’s chart gives a US 11 and the standard table a US 10.5–11.5. Type a brand’s own size in the converter to get its foot, then every other brand’s size for it.
Can I convert kids’ sizes?
Yes: choose “US kids (C/Y)” and type the size with its letter, like 9C or 3Y, or “UK (kids)” for a UK children’s size. Kids’ C sizes fit up to a little kid’s foot; Y sizes carry on to adult sizes.
Sizes from the standard formulas for each system (Wikipedia, “Shoe size”; Mexico and Brazil from SENAI-RS; checked 2026-10-23); brand sizes from each brand’s own chart. An estimate to help you choose: fit varies by brand and model.
