In short
- Photos are measured on your device and never uploaded or stored.
- Foot lengths and sizes you type are worked out in your browser and not sent anywhere.
- There are no accounts, and we don’t ask for your name or email address.
- Analytics run only as described below; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets cookies only after you agree; Cloudflare’s cookieless page counter runs for everyone.
Your photo
When you measure with the camera, the photo is processed in your browser, on your device, in memory. It is not uploaded to us or anyone else, and it isn’t saved: once you leave the page or take another photo, it’s gone. Only the result (your foot length and sizes) stays on the screen.
If you share your size, the picture of your size label is made on your device, and the link holds only your foot length (in millimetres) and the size category, nothing else. On a computer, the QR code that opens the page on your phone is made in your browser too.
What you type
The calculator and converters run entirely in your browser. The lengths and sizes you enter are not sent to us. When analytics is on, we count that a result was shown, with the foot length rounded to a 5 mm range, never the exact length.
Stored on your device
The site keeps these in your browser’s local storage, on your device only. We can’t see them.
- shoesize.saved: sizes you choose to save: the name you give each person, their foot length (and width, from a photo), the size category and the date. Only when you press Save; “Clear all” in the saved list deletes it. Never a photo.
- shoesize.consent: your answer to the cookie question (“granted” or “denied”), so we don’t ask again. “Cookie choices” at the bottom of every page changes it.
To clear anything the site has stored, delete this site’s data in your browser settings (for example, Settings → Privacy → Site data, then search for shoesize.app).
Cookies, analytics and ads
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a banner asks before any analytics cookies are used, with “OK” and “No thanks”. You can change your answer at any time with “Cookie choices” at the bottom of every page.
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
Google Analytics tells us which pages and tools are used. It may set cookies (such as_ga). Where consent is required, it sets them only after you agree; until then, or if you say no, it sets no cookies and sends Google only cookieless signals without an identifier (Google’s consent mode), which Google uses to estimate visits. Elsewhere it runs from the start, and “Cookie choices” turns its cookies off. We send these events:
- a result was shown: whether it came from the calculator or the camera, the size category, the size system shown first, and the foot length rounded to a 5 mm range;
- a brand’s chart link was opened: the brand’s name;
- a printable ruler was downloaded: the paper size and adult or kids.
- the camera was opened: the paper size and adult or kids;
- a photo was measured: how long it took and how sure the measurement was; or it couldn’t be: the reason (for example too dark);
- you placed the paper’s corners yourself, or moved the toe or width line: how far, rounded to a millimetre;
- you shared your size: by the share sheet, a saved image or a copied link; and that the QR code was shown on a computer.
We never send photos, exact lengths or anything you type.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks; we don’t use these to identify you.
Children
The kids’ sizes are written for parents. We don’t collect information from children, and children’s photos, like everyone’s, are never uploaded or stored.
Links to brands
Brand rows link to each brand’s own size chart. Those sites have their own privacy policies; we aren’t affiliated with any brand.
