Shoe size chart
Find your foot length in the chart: your size in every system is on the same row.
Each size fits feet up to the length shown, measured heel to longest toe, standing. Between two rows, take the larger size. A men’s US 9 fits a foot up to 26.25 cm (10.33 in): UK 8, EU 41–41.5.

How to read a shoe size chart
- Measure your foot from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe, standing, later in the day. Use your phone and a sheet of paper, or a ruler.
- Find the first row long enough. The “Foot up to” column is the longest foot each size fits; a foot just over one row takes the next. A 24.0 cm women’s foot is a US 8, not the size below.
- Read across. The rest of the row is the same foot in other systems. A range like 41–41.5 means the size’s feet run across those sizes (and any between): the brand’s own chart decides.
Men’s and women’s sizes
For the same foot, a US women’s size is 1½ higher than a US men’s on the standard tables: a men’s 9 is a women’s 10.5. Brands’ own charts don’t all agree:
- +1adidas, ANTA, HEYDUDE, HOKA, Jordan, KEEN, New Balance, Nike, Salomon, SOREL, Timberland and UGG (12 brands)
- +1½Clarks, Reebok, Saucony, Teva and Under Armour (5 brands)
- Same numberFila (1 brand)
- +3Golden Goose (1 brand)
- VariesLiberty (1 brand)
Women’s US minus men’s US for the same foot length, on each brand’s own men’s and women’s charts, for feet of 24 to 29 cm; “varies”: two differences are equally common on the brand’s charts. UK, EU, Japan and Mondopoint sizes are the same for men and women. Men’s vs women’s sizes, explained.
UK, EU and the rest of the world
- UK
- 1 below US men’s and 2½ below US women’s for the same foot; one scale for men and women. Children’s UK sizes run 0 to 13½, then adult sizes start again at 1.
- EU
- One scale for everyone, in Paris points of ⅔ cm. Some brands print thirds (42⅔).
- Japan
- The foot length in centimetres, in half-centimetre steps (JIS S 5037). Sneaker brands often print a smaller US size next to it than this chart: Japan’s sizes.
- Mondopoint
- The foot length in millimetres (ISO 9407): ski boots, skates, military footwear.
Australia, India and other countries use one of these: shoe sizes by country. To convert a size you know, use the shoe size converter.
Kids’ sizes: C, then Y
US kids’ sizes start at 0C for a newborn and count up to 13.5C (C or K, for “child”), then start again at 1Y (Y, for “youth”, also sold as GS, grade school) and run to 7Y. A 7Y is the same length as a men’s US 7, so big kids can move into adult sizes.
The typical age in the chart is a guide only: in the survey, children of the same age vary by several sizes. Measure instead of going by age. Kids’ sizes by age and band.
Why brands differ from the chart
Each brand sizes its own lasts. For a men’s US 9, the standard foot length is 26.25 cm; the 23 brands whose charts give foot lengths put it anywhere from 26.0 cm (HEYDUDE) to 27.7 cm (Golden Goose), a spread of 17 mm, about 4 half sizes.

That’s why the calculator below and every brand chart give your size on the brand’s own chart, not just the standard.
Width
Charts are by length; width is a letter after the size. On New Balance’s chart, which prints foot widths, a men’s US 9 runs from B (100 mm across the ball) to 4E (110 mm), standard D; a women’s US 8 from 2A (84 mm) to 2E (95 mm), standard B.
Questions
What shoe size is a 26 cm foot?
A men’s US 9, women’s US 10.5, UK 8 and EU 41, from the standard tables: a men’s 9 fits feet over 25.8 cm up to 26.25 cm. Every length has its own page with each brand’s size too.
Are EU sizes different for men and women?
No. EU sizes are one scale for everyone, counted in Paris points of ⅔ cm, so an EU 42 is the same foot for a man or a woman: a men’s US 9.5 or a women’s US 11. Only the US scales are split: a women’s number is 1½ higher than a men’s for the same foot on the standard tables.
What is the difference between UK and US shoe sizes?
For the same foot, a UK size is 1 below the US men’s size and 2½ below the US women’s on the standard tables, so a men’s US 9 is a UK 8. UK sizes are the same for men and women.
What does a range like “41–41.5” mean?
Each size fits a range of foot lengths, and the range for one system doesn’t line up exactly with the next. When a size’s range covers parts of more than one size elsewhere, the first and last are shown, and a range like 34.5–35.5 includes the 35 between them. The brand’s own chart decides which one you buy.
Should I size up or down if I’m between sizes?
This chart rounds up: your size is the first one long enough for your foot, so you never get a shoe shorter than your foot. Brands’ own charts can differ from the standard by up to a size or more, so check the brand’s chart before buying.
Is shoe size the same as foot length?
No. A shoe size is a label that stands for a range of foot lengths, and each system counts in its own unit: barleycorns of ⅓ inch for US and UK, Paris points of ⅔ cm for EU, millimetres for Mondopoint. This chart gives the longest foot each size fits.
Your size in each brand
Type your foot length for your size in every system and on each brand’s own chart. Between sizes? How shoes should fit.
Sizes from the standard formulas for each system (Wikipedia, “Shoe size”, checked 2026-10-23); typical ages from the CPSC children’s survey (Snyder et al., 1977, via NIST AnthroKids); brand foot lengths and widths from each brand’s own chart. An estimate to help you choose: fit varies by brand and model.
