HOKA’s own size charts cover men’s 5–15, women’s 5–12, unisex 4–15, big kid 3.5Y–7Y.

HOKA runs small in men’s shoes, against 23 other brands’ charts: size for size, its chart is made for a longer foot than another brand’s 5% of the time, about the same (within 2.5 mm) 44% and a shorter one 52%, typically by half a size. Go about half a size up from the size you wear in most brands, or size from your foot length on its chart.

Does HOKA run big or small?

From HOKA’s own foot lengths: first against the other brands’ charts, size for size (whether a US size is made for a longer or shorter foot than theirs), then against the standard size tables, foot by foot. Brands measure differently (Nike’s chart, for one, prints a box size in centimetres beside the foot length and says the two differ), so this is what each chart advises, not a fit test.

Men’s

Against the standard size tables, HOKA’s chart gives the same US size for 8 of 13 foot lengths from 24.0 to 30.0 cm (for the other 5, half a size smaller).

For example, HOKA’s men’s US 9 is for a foot up to 26.4 cm (the standard US 9: 26.25 cm). The other 23 brands’ charts make it for a foot from 26.0 to 27.7 cm: 4 for a shorter foot than HOKA’s, 4 for about the same (within 1 mm) and 15 for a longer one.

Women’s

HOKA sits in the middle in women’s shoes, against 21 other brands’ charts: size for size, its chart is made for a longer foot than another brand’s 21% of the time, about the same (within 2.5 mm) 44% and a shorter one 34%. Your usual US size is a good start; check your foot length on its chart.

Against the standard size tables, HOKA’s chart gives a US size half a size to a size smaller for 10 of 12 foot lengths from 22.0 to 27.5 cm: its sizes allow a longer foot than the standard ones.

For example, HOKA’s women’s US 8 is for a foot up to 24.5 cm (the standard US 8: 24.1 cm). The other 21 brands’ charts make it for a foot from 24.0 to 25.3 cm: 4 for a shorter foot than HOKA’s, 5 for about the same (within 1 mm) and 12 for a longer one.
